Sunday 1st June – Windsurf **** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods.

Foil – 18.02 knot max, 17.28 knot ave., 12.78 knot hour, 15.77 knot mile, 39.16 km., 14.95 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

I was keen to start off June with a windsurf foil, the early breeze was west dead off then turning wsw cross off which is a good direction for The Manor end in Felixstowe! With HHA showing around 15 knots I decided to head down to Squiz Lane at 9.30 and sadly this little dirt track must be on a campervan free parking app as there were 8/9 parked but I was lucky enough to get a spot near the flood gate, it’s a little sad as the owners of the beach huts will also struggle to park:( I was pleased to see that Al Wiz had put his flag up on the sea wall in the caravan park which showed me the wind was cross off, the see looked flat too so I quickly set-up my board and rigged 6.5 which proved perfect for the near 25 mile session! With the wind in this direction it makes for a easy launch with no waves and I was actually quickly up and flying once again having some cracking long runs out to the shipping channel and beyond in lovely smooth water with only me out enjoying it:) It was a good time to be out with the tide fairly low and I had wind against tide too which always helps and with the sea smooth it made for easy gybing. The wind did lull a few times and I had to wait for a gust to get flying but it did not spoil anything and by gybing a bit off the beach you could stay in the wind ! So after 25 miles I decided to call it a day and head for home around 1. Mag had walked around to Maeva’s house to help her Mum and Dad in their garden so I put my trailer in the garage and drove round to join them! Mag was planting out the new plants they bought yesterday in Woodbridge with Maeva having great fun with the new hose, I helped a little and we enjoyed scones with clotted cream and fruit curd – what a top day!
